We believe in creating a community of support and understanding for veterans, family, and friends. Our goal is to integrate the military family with a community of good people and available resources to meet the ever-changing needs for every member of the armed services and their family. Not everyone has a support system of blood family but the legion family is always ready and waiting to welcome all with open arms!
Our family is deeply and personally familiar with the struggles facing veterans of all ages. Whether you've served recently or have been discharged for many years, we all need help and community. If you dont see a resource or service that can help please reach out to us we are here to be a listening ear and help in any way we can.
Maybe you know a veteran or have one in your family that you're unsure how to relate to or help. We dont want you to feel alone and are here to assist in understanding and providing resources that can help!
We understand that supporting the veterans in your life isnt easy and the impacts can sometimes get overlooked. You are important too and you deserve support as well. We are here for you too!

Veteran Suicide Awareness and Prevention. Dont suffer in silence. If you or a family member is struggling, you dont have to be in it alone. There is a whole community dedicated to meeting you, hearing you, and helping you where you are.
The Columbia Protocol, also known as the Columbia-Suicide Severity Rating Scale (C-SSRS), supports suicide risk screening through a series of simple, plain-language questions that anyone can ask. The answers help users identify whether someone is at risk for suicide, determine the severity and immediacy of that risk, and gauge the level of support that the person needs.
Connecting those fighting internal battles to advocacy, education, and support.
We envision a world where veterans, families, and affected communities are protected by accountable systems, empowered to intervene in suicide risk, and strengthened through peer connection — so fewer lives are lost to preventable internal battles and meaningful reform occurs across all levels of government and institutions serving them.
As part of The American Legion Be the One mission to end veteran suicide, we have joined forces with Columbia University to develop training for those who want to learn more about interacting and responding with veterans who may be in crisis.
